Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life
I read this book last year and I really liked it. Though there were some confusing parts, clues kept my attention all throughout the book and that is what made it a good book. After this book, I got into mystery, and I have never really considered this genre before. The characters are really unique and I think everyone would like this book. It is about this boy, Jeremy Fink, who is about to turn thirteen. He is not very brave and he doesn't get out much. His dad died when Jeremy was younger. on the other hand, his best friend, Lizzy, is extemely courageous and has been all over the globe. Her mom died when she was young. So for Jeremy's birthday, a mysterious wooden box arrives in the mail. There is a note attached to the box that says inside holds the meaning of life. Jeremy is really confused and has no idea what this is supposed to mean. The box cannot be opened without a key, so he tries to looks for the key, if it is attached to the box like the note. No such luck. When I picked this book up, I looked at the cover and it has different types of keys all over it. I wondered why, but at the end of the book, and only the end, I understood. But if he cannot find the key, how is he supposed to know what the contents of the box are? Plus, his thirteenth birthday is coming up, and he is running out of time. Suddenly, he feels the need to find the key. So he and Lizzy start this search looking for the key, and they try his fathers old office first because his father was a blacksmith. Not a chance. Throughout their journey, they come across antique shop sellers, fortune tellers and palm readers. Jeremy may just find the meaning of life through coincidence, or fate. Again, at the end of the book, and only the end, you will understand. Also, cliff hangers keep you reading, just like any other good book. I would recommend this to everyone who loves fiction/mystery, and I think everyone would like this! Great read!
